Vocabulary is an important vehicle for social culture and its important component, which is rich in meanings. Languages have changed a lot with the changes of politics, economy and culture. New words and expressions, as the reflection of these changes, are among the most sensitive and changing. They, as a trend, take on typical social characteristics of the time, with special social and cultural connotation in them. These characteristics indicate the changing society and thus the close relationship between languages and culture is revealed. This interrelationship is embodied in linguistics, semantics, grammar and other aspects, especially in semantics. New terms reflect new things, new concepts, new ideas, as well as the variety and complexity in semantics. This essay focuses on the new terms concerning politics, business, high-tech, Internet, campus, humor, restaurants and entertainment, territory. These terms signal modern social and cultural phenomena and directly reflect modem people's social life, ideas and views (social psychology), the characteristics of social culture and its development, change and innovation.This essay proposes to analyze the underlying meanings of social culture on the basis of the above-mentioned analysis. At the same time, it discusses the relationship between new terms and social culture. It also has some implications for the study of lexicology.
