This thesis, from the angle of the dictionary of rhymes, selects the dictionaries reflecting the northern dialect sound system of the Yuan and Ming Dynasty, i. e. Meng Gu Zi Yun, Gu Jin Yun Huiju Yao, Zhong Yuan Yin Yun, Yun Llle Yi long, Jiao Tai Yun, Chong Ding Si Ma Wen Gong Deng Yun Tu Jing and Yuan Yun Pu as the object of study and discusses the changes of Rusheng recorded in the dictionaries of rhymes of the northern dialect series of the Yuan and Ming Dynasty.Viewing from the angles of both macroscopic and microscopic, this thesis first presents the layout of Rusheng of the dictionaries of rhymes, then analyses the real changes of their rhyming types, rhyme and the tone of Rusheng through comparative studies. In the respect of the rhyme of Rusheng, the trend of development was that Rusheng was not arranged independently but matched with Yinsheng, the plosive end of Rusheng mingled and then disappeared and the construction of the vowels of Rusheng tended to be the same as that of Yinsheng. In the respect of the tone of Rusheng, the trend of development was that Rusheng was not an independent tone but mixed into the tones of Ping,Shang and Qu-Quanzhuo into the tone of Yangping, Cizhuo into thetone of Qu, as for Qing, comparatively complicated, almost into the tones of Yinping, Yangping, Shang and Qu. In a word, this is only aimed at the general trend of the changes of Rusheng, but not indicatesthat Rusheng disappeared in all the northern dialect, up to now Rusheng remains in some areas of the northern dialect. The changes of Rusheng in the dictionaries of rhymes of the northern dialect of the Yuan and Ming Dynasty have both systematization and diversity. The author thinks this state is mainly because of the difference between the pronunciation of the literary language and the oral speech sounds and the permeability between them, and the authors of the dictionaries themselves and the sequential characteristics of the development of Rusheng itself.
