LiQi theory is the basis for LiQi theorist to establish philosophic system, which would be brought out by different annotations. This article aims to elaborate the theories of Zhuxi's and Ligu's starting with elementary concepts of Li and Qi by parallel comparative research step by step. It is intended to reacquaint their theories systematically and make a deeper understanding of the similarity and difference betwween their theories, meanwhile obtain the inner knowledge resulting in the difference. The article is divided into three parts.Firstly, it takes a comprehensive illustration of Zhuxi's concepts of Li and Qi as well as analyzing Zhuxi's thought of the sequence of Li and Qi at his early, middle and late years based on historical evidences by combining two researching approaches, namely, sectioning analysis and grading statement. As for the theory of the movement and stability of Li and Qi, it is elaborated from the original section and constructive section respectively from the beginning of two seemingly paradoxical propositions that Qi has the quality of movement and stability since Li has the quality of movement and stability, on the contrary, Li has the quality of movement and stability since Qi has the quality of movement and stability.Secondly, guided by the thinking of above chapter, the article also defines the two basic categories of Ligu's Li and Qi, and then gradually elaborates his theories of Qi loaded with Li and the openness of Li and the containment of Qi. Regarding the proposition that LiQi is not two things nor a thing as main clue, the article summarizes the though of the perfect relationship between Li and Qi, which is the soul of Ligu's.The last chapter, that is to say the conclusion, illustrates definitely the difference and similarity of LiQi theories about Zhuxi's and Ligu's by summarizing the above research. It goes to show that Ligu is in possession of great innovative spirit that conforms to and absorbs the essence from but not restricts to the formers' achievements. To sum up, Ligu's theory has contributed a lot to the spread, development and localization of Zhuzi theory in Korea.
