| Some basic ideas of Lao-tzu and Chuang-tzu's philosophy such as Tao,Chi,Spirit,Xinzhai and Zuowang had a continuous resonance in Wei ,Jin and the Southern and Northern Dynasties'art. However, these philosophical concepts weren't directly artistic ones. The sublation of Wei,Jin and the Southern and Northern Dynastics'art theory primarily comprised two aspects:one is to establish the main part of emotion of art viewpoint and give up Lao-tzu and Chuang-tzu's asceticism;the other is to advocate free and lively spirit and rebuild Lao-tzu and Chuang-tzu's theory of fostering spirit and maintaining void quietness. The sulation of these two aspects practically resulted in theories of aesthetic creation and appreciation which were based on "main part of emotion(mind)"and characterized Taoist theory. To this extent, along with the path which Lao-tzu and Chuang-tzu's philosophy transferred into art theory we may attain deeply insight into ancient China's art. |
