China underwent a historical period of transition from traditional society to modern society at the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China. In the tremendous social changes of economy, politics and culture, social customs undoubtedly also went through great changes. The academic circles have obtained rich fruits in this research field. However, there has been no specialized thesis that discusses the changes of social customs in Hunan Province at the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China.
