Study On Shen Cong-wen's Literary Theory And Criticism

Shen cong-wen is not only a famous author but also a critic with characteristic and influence. Shen's literary theory and criticism are profound and particular which should not be avoided in Shen cong-wen Study. But in a long time Shen's exploits weren't taken enough attention to, moreover, the limited researching articles on that aren't satisfactory. This present paper tries to deal with both of Shen's great progress, then concludes that Shen cong-wen really occupies an important position in the history of modern Chinese literary criticism.The first "literary theory" part has into two chapters. One deals with Shen's unique literary ideal which contains life-recreating and society-rebuilding. The other sums up Shen's experiments on writing by using usual writing pattern: fore-writing step; writing step; post-writing step.The second "literary criticism" part consists three chapters. One displays Shen's criticism ideology which has the aspects on purpose , standards, methods, quality and friend-critic mode. Another one shows that Shen's criticism practice has made great progress in advocating literary-rebuilding ideology. The last one studies three characteristics of Shen's criticism: aesthetic comprehension of the whole work; proper comparison between writers, and essay-writing mode. And the prominent charm is emphasized through comparing with Mao dun and Li Jian-wu.
