Movie's authenticity is the most basic and complex proposition on the movie history. The more and more use of digital technology in movies makes the discussion of the proposition into a new stage. For this reason, combining the development of movie, rediscussion of movie 's authenticity from the Aesthetics and Art theory's point of view has its theoretical and practical significance.First part of the paper summarizes the traditional standpoints about movie 's authenticity and points out some mistakes in those standpoints. This part makes a basis for the rediscussion of this proposition.The second part from the perspective of movie history and movie making, discusses the meaning of these movies which use digital technology to the rediscussion of movie's authenticity. This part discusses the advantage and problems of these movies and points out that digital technology offers possibility to gain the higher authenticity. This part also points out that we should discuss this proposition comprehensively.The third part elucidates the point of view of this paper about movie's authenticity. It says that the implied meaning of the movie's authenticity should be the third dimension of the audience caused by the artist. On this proposition, different artists and different audience have different standards which change along with the progress of times. Which we need to grasp is the movie' artistic authenticity but not the actuality of life. To the artists, movie's authenticity means that they can express their feelings, intention, Weltanschauung and sight of value recurring to the movie image; to the embracer(audience), it means the truly mental experience and the true understanding about the impersonal world gaining from movie watching.The forth part discusses the theoretical and practical meaning of this paper. It points out that the rediscussion of movie's authenticity makes summing-up and renovation of theories after the emerging of the new movie form necessary and maintenances movie' artistic position, and the rediscussion can also gives some new thoughts to Chinese movie's development.
