Reflection On The Metaphysical Thought Of Painting

In the western history of art, especially in the modern painting history of 20th, there were many modern painting trends, such as Fauvism, Cubism, Futurism, Dada and Surrealism, etc. One is likely familiar with Surrealism. But it is rarely mentioned that Surrealism is derived from Scuola Metafisica. Some art history critics tend to include Scuola Metafisica in Surrealism. Scuola Metafisica was a minor movement in history, but it is most intimately related with philosophy as a trend of modern art. Its influence is far-reaching. The paper centers on the researching into the artistic features of Scuola Metafisica, thinking over and exploring the view of metaphysics in Chinese and west philosophy and aesthetics.The paper is divided into several parts as these:Part One elaborates the course of the development and the source of Scuola Metafisica from the historic perspective. The analysis is done from three aspects: one, the appearance of the Scuola Metafisica trend; two, the historic background of the trend; three, the philosophical foundation of the trend.Part two is mainly on the artistic features of Scuola Metafisica. The analysis is done from two aspects: one, the modle features of Scuola Metafisica; two, the object represented in Scuola Metafisica. So we can find the metaphysical sense from the paintings of Scuola Metafisica.Part Three elaborates the development and the influence of Scuola Metafisica.Part Four analyzes the trend from a theoretical point of view. Beginning with the analysis on the metaphysical concepts of China and the west, this part analyzes the relationship between painting and metaphysics, i.e. reflection on the metaphysics in painting.Part Five is about how to pursue the metaphysical sense of Chinese oil painting inlight with the analysis on the Chinese oil painting.The last part is the conclusion. How to represent the thought of metaphysics in painting the realistic world is discussed. This is the realistic significance of this paper.
