Study Of The Simplifying Chinese Characters In Variant Forms On The Epitaphs In North And South Dynasty

Many North and South Dynasty's epitaphs have been found especially since the beginning of last century. The characters on them were engraved after writing on these memorial tablets and kept untouched till now. There are many variant forms' simplifying Chinese characters with various simplifying forms and ways. They are the firsthand materials in studying the structure, the evolvement and the development of Chinese characters. There is a special relationship between the character and the word it represents. So, studying the variant forms' simplifying Chinese characters is meaningful for the vocabulary study.Using the basic laws of comparative, structure analyzing, inductive, document demonstrating and meaning observing, the article tries to study the variant forms' simplifying Chinese characters in North and South Dynasty. Besides, the article tries to reveal the reasons why the variant forms' simplifying Chinese characters in North and South Dynasty could emerge and show the meaning to study these characters. In the study, the article expounds the process and the laws in the simplifying of Chinese characters, so as to do help for the work of character simplifying and provide proofs and precious firsthand materials to erect a perfect system in the study of Chinese characters.
