Research Of The Drug Craving Of Those Abstained From Drugs During Their Treatment

Drug craving refers to drug abusers' un-inhibitory yearn for the spiritualized material effect, which they used to experience. It is the main factor for their re-craving after their dependence on drugs and their drugs craving have been abstained. Their high rate of re-craving is influenced by many factors, among which it is individuals' psychological drug craving that is the important initial drive for the action of forced drugs seeking and even re-craving. At present, there are some researches about the drug craving abroad, but they are in lack of theoretical models and measurement instruments. The purpose of this research is to develop a questionnaire appropriate for investigating the drug craving of those refrained from drugs during their treatment, to construct the dimensions of the drug craving, and to learn the characters, degree and affecting factors of the drug craving of those patients.On the base of the interviews with some patients and investigations on them through a questionnaire, this research analyzed the characters of the drug craving of those refrained from drugs. After the pre-test and having consulted some experts and some instructors working in drugs abstaining organizations, a formal questionnaire is developed.The results of this research are as follows:(1) after having a factor analysis on the developed "Questionnaire for the drug craving of those abstained from drugs during their treatment ", 5 dimensions are elicited: eliminating drug craving, prizing drug craving, social drug craving, negative drug craving, and reflecting drug craving.(2) by analyzing, Questionnaire 1 and Questionnaire 2 both have good reliability.(3 )the drug craving of those abstained from drugs and its degree vary with gender, age, education, the way and time of drugs craving, and drop into the regression equation. This suggests that those who are older, worse educated, men, inject drugs into veins and mixed use drugs, and have abused for a longer time have a higher demand for drugs than those who are younger, better educated, women, smoke and inject drugs into muscle, and have abused drugs for a shorter time.(4) by SAS and SDS, the result shows that the patients have a high degree of anxiety and depression, which is positive correlated with the drug craving and its degree.
