It's more and more important to research into mental health of middle school students and work out some assessment tools with the deepening development of Quality-oriented education. After a long time's learning from western countries, It is time to walk our own way in the field of mental health. In the beginning of this thesis, The researcher reviews some Domestic and international influential scholars and organizations' views about mental health, including the definition of mental health, the standard of mental health and some common mental blocks during Teenagers, and so on. And then, state my own view on the standard of middle school student's mental health, namely whether they study actively, whether their emotions are steady and optimistic, whether they appraise themselves correctly, whether they have senses of duty, do they have strong achievement motivations, could they communicate with others on their own initiative, could they control and change their words and deeds according to different occasions, whether they have mature sex consciousness etc. On the basis of this 8 standards, the researcher works out one psychological scale Self-report Inventory for Shanghai Middle School Students(SISMSS).This scale consists of two parts, adaptive testing and illness diagnostic test. Adaptive testing including 8 branch-tests, namely active study, steady and optimistic emotion, self-cognition, sense of duty, achievement motivation, communication ability, sex consciousness, self-control ability. Illness diagnostic test including 7 branch-tests, namely sub-schizophrenia, sub-depression, mania, obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety, phobia, hysteria.Research results indicate that the coefficient of internal consistency of SISMSS is 0.9081(p<0.01), i.e. SISMSS has high steady quality. In addition, coefficient of correlation with SCL-90 is 0.58 and 0.734 with MHT. Construct validity of adaptive testing also be verified by factor analysis.At the end of this thesis, the researcher calculates the norm of SISMSS, namely the mean and the standard deviation of whole scale, adaptive testing, illness diagnostic test and all of branch-tests. The participants are 1188 Shanghai middle school students divided into 4 groups, 11-12% 13-14% 15-16 and above 17. The researcher also draws sectional drawing of SIMSS so that we can know someone's state of mental health directly.
