Passive Voice is one of the most important grammar points in English. When active voice is used in the English sentence, the agent is accentuated by being at the beginning of the sentence; while passive voice is stressed by being at the head of it if the English sentence uses passive voice. This paper gives a concise description to passive voice and attempt to give a detailed discussion about the key points of passive voice in English teaching. This essay falls into three parts. Part 1: about the form and significance of passive voice. Through the study of this part, the form and significance of active voice and passive voice, usage of passive voice and restriction of its agent and sense is fully illustrated and it also points out that passive voice plays an important role in English language. Part 2 tells of the details and general knowledge of passive voice and key points in passive voice teaching as the second language. This part can be divided into two levels. Level 1 describes the general knowledge of passive voice, Level 2 searches the key points of passive voice teaching in the primary class and high class as the second language. Part 3 probes into reasons why passive voice becomes the difficult points and searches the best teaching strategies to solve this problem according to my own teaching experiences and also introduces some useful methods of teaching it well. The study of passive voice may be acted from different angles. This paper only give plain discussion from teaching, many problems are saved to be studied later.
