Artistic Designs Of Door Ornaments And City Cultural Characteristics

This article, using history background as a reference, introduces forms and contents of door ornaments such as shop signs, tablets and festoon lightings, etc. and makes a brief review of the development history of artistic designs of door ornaments. Starting from the point of cultural characteristics, it analyzes the styles and distinctions of Beijing door ornaments, door ornaments of regions in the south of Yangtze River and Shanghai door ornaments. Meanwhile, it elaborates the relations between artistic designs of door ornaments and city cultural characteristics. From these, this article provides some opinions on how to inherit and carry forward traditional cultures and how to borrow and assimilate foreign cultures. Besides, by using both theories and examples, it has also made some research on the contribution and significance of artistic designs of door ornaments in preserving city cultural characteristics.
