Zhang Huiyan was one of the leaders of the Changchow intellectual colony during Qian-Jia times, and the founder of the Changchow Ci-school as well. He not only made a great contribution to the abrupt rise of the Changchow New-text Classicism, but also played a very important role in the course of Chinese literature's transforming from ancient into modern times. In a word, he was a remarkable intellectual who had rendered a starting historic contribution in many fields such as confusian classic study and literature on the eve of Chinese modern times.Seeing from the angle of the combination of his classicism, his odd sentence prose and his theory on Ci, this thesis bear it out that both Zhang Huiyan's creation and theory of literature and art are the manifestations of his confusian classicism. Based on a detailed description of his life story, his mental attitude and the historical and social background, with the oveerall, deepgoing research of his confusian classic study as well as his ideas and production of odd sentence prose and Ci, it also states clearly that the deep sense of worrying and the positive political enthusiasm which contained in Zhang Huiyan's literature concept and practice are the signs of Chinese modern literature. |
