Yu Qiu-yu is a big hit in the 1990s' literary world of the last century. After many reviewers' research, his prose never is a new topic. However, this thesis tries to analyze the phenomenon of Yu Qiu-yu among the readers from the angle of Reception Aesthetics, gives many examples such as his success, results of success and his prose's changes in itself, proves the importance of readers during this course, then analyzes the readers' whole changes and part transformation. That is to say, the case of Yu Qiu-yu can prove that reader market will become a stage to all kinds of literature.This paper is composed of four parts besides introduction and conclusion.Introduction first raises a question: whether the popularity of Yu's prose has other factors besides his reform in prose style?Part one: The Other Hand. Reception Aesthetics thinks that readers' expectancy can influence their election, feeling, understanding and evaluation to literature. From this angle, the popularity of Yu Qiu-yu's prose must conform to the readers' expectancy, meet their heart needs, then can be popular. From the three factors: " the pursuit to elegant culture", "the attention to history", and "the modern people's inertia because of the passage of time". The paper believes that Yu Qiu-yu's prose meets the readers' needs. During the course of it, reader market has not influence the writer, but it has shown its potence, at the same time, it encourages the writer.Part two: The More Autumn Rain, The Colder It Is. Yu Qiu-yu become popular by chance among readers, then he is involved in it. This part thinks that his later works begin to meet market tendency consciously: such as his prose pattern; the more pursuit to elegancy in his new edition; extreme conclusions in order to protect his reputation. From these perspectives, this paper proves the huge influence of reader market. At the same time, the thesis mentions the later series of results: the big hits of scholar proseand large prose, writers' multi-parts etc. All of these result from the influence of reader market, which contains honour and benefit.Part three: Inside Changes. If we say the reader market influences Yu Qiu-yu and his followers' essay pattern, we can see that, behind these phenomena, there are inside changes in his prose. Among all his prose, there are transformations from individual culture personality to the whole culture personality, from elite to populace. These changes and tendency show that Yu Qiu-yu builds up a kind of whole insight under the readers' double influence.Part four: Reader Market. This part gives many other examples besides Yu Qiu-yu, including big hits in literature; sect's disintegration; ways in which writer can become famous; even the extreme attitude of literature about spirit. All of these have relation with the reader market. Then this paper analyzes reader market's changes in the recent two decades and its features, evaluates it as a whole.The conclusion manifests that Yu Qiu-yu may stop his writing, but as a kind of tendency, more and more literature will be involved in the reader market.
