The Research On The Development Of Visual Literacy In Photography Education

With the development of TV, film, newspaper and communications, Image is getting more and more important as a way of expressing information nowadays. At the same time, in educational resources, image information is increasing sharply, including film slides, image in TV, film, multimedia video and net-image. The research on the development of visual literacy is mature and systematic in developed countries. But this kind of research is just beginning in China.At present, many courses in educational technology concern the training of visual literacy. As a required course, the Photography Basis is assigned at the first term. The theory of composition of a picture and how to use rays are the foundation for visual literacy. What we're researching is how to cultivate students' visual literacy in photography education.The thesis consists of seven parts. In part one, the problem is put forward and the significance of the thesis is analyzed. Part two, visual information communication and visual literacy, analyzes the research on visual literacy in several subjects and introduce the definition, history, three fields and levels of visual literacy. In part three, educational technology and the training of visual literacy, the relationship between educational technology and visual literacy is analyzed by reviewing the history of educational technology. Part four, the development of visual literacy in photography education, expatiates on why photography education can develop visual literacy and how to carry out and introduces the practices in the U.S. In part five, the design and construction of the web site, the design, aim and function of the web site are explained. Part six, the development and test of the web site, interprets the steps of building the web site, the design of databases, some programs and the test of the web site. The last part is a brief summary on writing the thesis and building the web site.
