This article holds that the consistent topic of Lukacs' s aesthetics and literacy theory is to pursue totality and to construct aesthetic Utopia from the point of Lukacs' s totality. His later works also develop and perfect this topic furtherly. This article gives sound evidence to prove this topic from three dimensions, that is philosophy, aesthetics and literary theory of the totality. The philosophy of totality is the theoretical foundation of the other two dimensions. So aesthetics and literary theory of the totality are all derived from this foundation. We find that the principle of philosophy of Lukacs' s totality is to revolt the reif ication and construct Utopia by tracing back the orgin of Lukacs' s philosophy of totality and presenting its main contents. The requirement of philosophy of totality in literature prompts Lukacs to positively advocate the theory of realism. It suggests that the essence of Lukacs' s theory in realism is to criticize the alienation and make the humanitarianism widely spread through the presentation in four different aspects : reflecting the social reality in a whole , shaping the typical figures, uniting the content and form in harmony as well as reviewing on the debate over the realism. All of these show that Lukacs' s aesthetics and literary theory have played a great role in the development history of western aesthetics and literary theory.
