There are two problems in the Chinese textual expressions by oversea students. One is textual expansion, the other is textual cohesion. In order to solve these problems, we propose to use the Theme-rheme theory of systematic functional linguistics. In the perspective of the theme selecting and thematic progression, this article analyses the errors in the intermediary text written by oversea students, and offers suggestions to teaching texts in Part Four. The problems in textual expansion, as we think, are due to that foreign students can't select the suitable theme in their expressions. So we offer guidance on the tactics. This text has mainly done with the following three aspects:First, because the Theme-rheme theory comes abroad, it can't suit the Chinese text analysis. To solve this problem, we reorganize so m\e statements in the theory, and summarize the function types of Chinese theme, the types of formation, and the thematic progression models.Secondly, this article summarizes the error types of theme and thematic progression model selection in the foreign students' text.Thirdly, it provides teaching suggestions to dealing with the problems in the intermediary language texts, and provides the models of teaching texts by Theme-rheme theory.
