On The Expression Of Approximate Quantity In Chinese

Every language has its ways to express approximate quantity and Chinese is no exception. This dissertation aims to study the various ways to express approximate quantity and their regulations in Chinese. The whole dissertation consists of six chapters, as follows:First chapter is the introduction, mainly demonstrates the relation between approximate quantity and the quantity category system .explains several concepts which consists of "subjective quantity" , "falsity quantity" and "true quantity", and so on. On the grounds of premier's study result, we put forward context's study frame and method.From the second chapter to the fifth discussed kinds of expression methods in Chinese. The second chapter investigates kinds of forms of two numbers' combination meaning approximate quantity, and from two sides of "the selection of quantifier" and "the affirmation and the negation" make a semantic analysis. The third chapter investigates the combination of number and other words. Except for depicting its representation forms we still borrow mathematics analysis concept to make a "take value section" analysis. The fourth chapter inspects approximate quantity expression without number, especially approximate words and approximate time word. The fifth analyses adverb associated with approximate quantity, by ways of "measure analysis" and "rank analysis", we make an investigation to estimate words and terminal words.The sixth make a apperceive degree investigation to approximate quantity. We make asking investigations to the people with different age and sex and analyze the result of investigations.The whole dissertation takes classification as emphasis, pays attention to the combination of grammatical form and grammatical semantics and the combination of description and explanation. We make classified study of approximate quantity and induce its semantic features, attempt to pursue the people's cognition process to approximate quantity from cognition psychology angle.
