Research on the teaching of glossary is a very important part in the field of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. Some scholars brought up an assumption of morphological pedagogics, which shows that the effect of meopheme is becoming more and more important However, there hasn't had a systematic research yet, especially from the perspective of cognitive manners of learners of Chinese as a L2. A study was conducted to look into the matter that whether the overseas students can acquire the morphological awareness. The results show that learners have the morphological awareness and it is an important strategy to conjecture the meaning of a new word by the meaning of morphemes that make up of it The morphological awareness is also influenced by the combination types of morphemes, the written form and the pronunciation of the word, and the L1 and the level of the learners as well.This study supports the method of teaching morphemes, and emphasizes that teach the Chinese vocabulary as a whole on one hand, and teach them separated into morphemes, especially those which can compose of a lot of words, on the other hand.
