A Study Of The Connotation Of Elegant Ci In The Perspective Of The Course Of Ci's Elegantlization

The problem of Ci's elegance is a basic problem in the study of Ci. As for this problem, there is not a solution which is generally accepted. By studying the whole course of Ci's development, viewing the course of Ci's development as the one of Ci's elegantlization and analyzing many authors and their works in different periods,this paper makes a clear conclusion: during me course of Ci's elegantlization, the connotation of Ci's elegantlization in the North Song Dynasty was different from that in the South Song Dynasty. During the North Song Dynasty, the poets who created elegant Ci always paid their attention on the techniques of expression. But in the South Song Dynasty, the poets surpassed the field of pure literature on art and came into a new field of morals and social culture which is the essential background of Ci's existence and development. To sum up,the connotation of elegant Ci should be viewed with a historical and advancing eye.
