Sima Guang and others' (Song Dynasty) Leipian (司马光等的《类 篇》 ) is a famous writings in the history of dictionary, scriptology and scholium. It carries on Shuowen' (《说文》) and Yupian' s (《玉篇》) compile tradition and is superior over them more or less and enlightens dictionaries afterwards as well. It absorbs achievements from dictionaries like Erya (《尔雅》) and becomes monograph with script and explanations of words in ancient .Its Fanqie (反切) derives from Jiyun (《集韵》) and improves some more , and reflects basic Chinese phonological phenomena of the middle ancient Chmese. Leipian (《类篇》)follows Yupian (《玉篇》) which explains both original meaning of character and its extended meaning, and quotes other books and dictionaries widely.
