A Study On The Thought Of Propriety Of Sacye Kim, Jang-saeng's

As a concept, Propriety had been at a very important position in the Confucianism. By means of it, the social ideal of the Confucianism was put into effect. So, to research deeper into the Confucianism requires more inquiry into the Propriety Theory and working out the practical standard to carry out. From the mid-time of 16 century to the early days of 17 century, Korea was in utter disorder. At the same time, xinglixue of Korean, the philosophical basis of the Propriety Theory, reached the summit. At this background, Kimjang-saeng's Propriety Theory came into being.Kimjang-saeng is the man who epitomized the Korean Propriety Theory. His theory is a comprehensive expression of the former Propriety Theory. Beginning with the basic concept of Propriety, the writer expounds the background of times of emergence, the course of development, the primary contents, theoretical characteristics and historical and practical significance of Kimjang-saeng's Propriety Theory, and try to re-know it. This thesis is divided into four parts:Firstly, it gives the course of Propriety Theory's forming a comprehensive exposition, especially analyses the background of times of its forming thoroughly on the basis of understanding of its fundamental conception.Secondly, the theoretical basis of Propriety Theory is expounded in four parts according to the relation of form and content.Thirdly, the thesis gives information of major content of Propriety Theory on grounds of Kimjang-saeng's primary writings and generalizes its characteristics.The last chapter, that is to say the condition, puts forward the historical and practical significance of Propriety Theory on the basis of summarizing the whole thesis.
