The Value Of The Chinese Traditional Family Propriety In The Family Moral Education

The Chinese traditional society is dominant in Confucianism. The Confucianism was penetrating into both the state power and the personal statements and actions. Although for the economic progress, a multi-value tendency appeared in the Chinese contemporary society, but for the long history and the pervasiveness and extensiveness influence, the Chinese traditional moral as the ethics of Confucian has deeply influenced in the modern society.In the Chinese traditional society, the core of the propriety is moral. The traditional family propriety could preserve the stability of the family moral order, and its essence is a public order of familiarization. The function of traditional family propriety is not only maintained the order of the family and the society through regularizing the moral agent behavior, but also enlightened the moral agent through the external standards. These could inherent morals self-consciousness and develop the moral agent's conscience, and then advance their moral realm to have the traditional virtue. The valuation of Chinese traditional family propriety in the traditional family moral education is making the moral agent has the traditional virtue through practice the family propriety.First, the research analysis and discusses the essence of family propriety based on the external relativity and inherent complementary between propriety and family propriety. The research keeps the foothold on the propriety origin of history element and society element to discuss the essence of propriety in the philosophy. On this basis, the research has a conclusion that the family propriety is the manifestation of propriety in the family. Through discussing the social foundation and the ethical foundation of the family propriety's origin, the research draws a conclusion that the essence of the family propriety is the order.Next, in order to research the origin and essence of the traditional family propriety, the research analysis the characteristic of the family propriety and get five characterizes: extensiveness, permeability, normalization, normative and operability. Then, the research draws that the essence of the traditional family propriety is a criterion which order the role and the behavior of family members. On this basis, the research has a conclusion that,the family propriety is a visible virtues and is a highly evaluation moral.At length, the research based on discussing the virtues which the Chinese family propriety contains, and discuses the process which the moral agent has the virtues. By the analysis, the research has a conclusion that the moral agent could get the virtues by practice the family propriety. This process has three stages (moral obedience moral internalization and moral externalization) which from external to internal, and from internal to external. By way of the detail discussion to every stage, the research draws a conclusion that the moral agent could have the virtues by practicing the family propriety. These viewpoints offer a theoretical guidance to family moral education.
