As an important subject of the vocabulary of Qin Dynasty to Han Dynasty.The researchof the substantive in Ceremony And Propriety is closely related to Chinese etymology. Theobject is 822 words recorded in the book, whose names specially designated for substances. This article is based on the annotation of the Han Dynasty, the Tang Dynasty and theQing Dynasty. Using the reseach method and achievement of senior scholar for reference, wedevided the article into two aspects. At first, we classified these nouns and make a form named "The substantives whichindicate the substances in Ceremony And Propriety". Then, we do textual research into 8 monosyllabit substantives in Ceremony AndPropriety. Our main task is to explain the proper names of some substances. We must investigatethe name and the material object together, and clarify the sourse and course. So we do thequantitative and qualitative analysis, and make the conclusion. In this article, we use themethod named "Yin Sheng Qiu Yi" which is provided by the people in the Qing Dynasty, thecomparative method that is included by Lu Zongda, Wang Ning, and the comparation methodof the same clan that is raised by Zhang Yongyan, itc. This reseach topic involves a big realm, which intersect etymology, exegetics,archaeology, culture, even science and technology. It's difficult. But it's also a test and anexercise for the writer. I hope the reseach in this article can provide the document languagematerials those are systematically arranged and the valuable conclusions those are expoundedand proved.
