Research On The Transformation Of Zhang Shizhao's Thoughts From The Former Jiayin To The Latter One (1914-1927)

The article discusses the transformation process of Zhang Shizhao's thoughts on aspects such as culture, politics, education from 1914 to 1927.After accepting the west culture, Zhang Shizhao's thoughts gradually turned to change into the geniality, with the hope of pursuing advance on the basis of harmony, in order to realize Chinese political transformation in China. When the transplanted west political policy failed, in order to make China a prosperous and strong state, Zhang Shizhao with suspect went to Europe for the secend time to search for measures. Confronting all kinds of malpractice of west culture in the Second War, Mr. Zhang's thought became conservation and cared for Chinese national culture. He tried to find out means from Chinese traditional culture to save miserabale China. Obvious transformation could be seen from three publications Jiayin which were established by Zhang Shizhao.The first and second Jiayin which set up in 1914 and in 1917 are advanced publications, so the period from 1914 to 1922 could be called the fomer "Jiayin" period, when Zhang Shizhao insisted harmony on not only the new and the old culture but also the east and the west culture. His opinon of harmony made him against autocracy and violent revolution, trying to deal with national affairs on the middle position.However, since 1922 Zhang Shizhao has been on the way of restoring ancient ways. The third Jiayin which established in 1925,so the period from 1922 to 1927 could be called the latter "Jiayin" period. Interior and exterior circumstance made him deeply suspected the west culture. Because Zhang Shizhao placed the hope of saving China on the trandition culture, he initiated energetically feudalism, opposed new culture, suppressed students' patriotic movement, when he took charge of administration of justice and education in government of Duan Qirui,Zhang Shizhao, on one hand, advocated that China should totally reconstruct her traditional moral; on the other hand, in order to achieve this goal, he maintained that China should return to its traditional agriculture economy, restore the traditional social organization, hang Shizhao was a represent of the predicament of many of his contemporier on the way of searching measures to save China under the collision of the east culture and the west culture.
