Research On The Inheriting And Development Of Chinese Traditional Pattern In Modern Symbol Design

Symbols are widely used in many fields of society, such as companies, organizations, activities, and conferences. They are the windows of exhibition, culture and the management. Many of modern symbols are based on Chinese traditional patterns, and highly require the culture spirits.This thesis discussed the combination between traditional patterns and modern symbols, and explored the development of them. Under the global conditions, thinking of the culture design and national characteristic is interesting and valuable.This thesis defined the category of Chinese traditional patterns firstly, and then described the development process. According to the analysis of their reference and exertion on modern symbols, the figure and signification were represented. The third part explored the aesthetic feeling and valuation from formation, visualization and signification. Based on the investigation of society, culture and consumption, it was concluded that the inheriting of traditional patterns should undergo the modern transition of format and in-depth extension of national spirit on a higher aesthetic level.The contribution of this thesis is defining the category of traditional patterns, combining with the exchange of social production and definition of tradition. It analyzed the aesthetic feeling and valuation, defined the requirement of traditional patterns, and inherited of traditional formation and culture. This offers the theoretical reference of modern symbol design.
