Chinese five thousand years of cultural heritage accumulated in thetraditional arts provides a wealth of nutrients for modern design. Theexploitation of the traditional visual arts have a deep significance forthe development of contemporary Chinese design art. Peoplerealized that arts and culture must be integrated into their ownnation in order to achieving a new breakthrough in modern design. Ascontemporary designers, they should absorb the essence of nationalart which should be started with their own artistic accomplishmentsand backed by modern design thinking, and deal with the relationshipbetween international and national character based on the correctunderstanding of traditional Chinese culture, in order to designmodern, regional, cultural works with personality characteristics.Chinese traditional pattern takes an important part in the traditionalChinese art, which has become a breakthrough in the direction ofstudy of traditional Chinese art and culture for contemporarydesigners. To integrate the traditional pattern into modern design, we need to reconstruct traditional pattern, which naturally can notdirectly be applied mechanically. This reconstruction is based on thein-depth understanding of traditional Chinese culture, and the basicelements of the traditional patterns of thinking of modern designshould be summarized and refined in line with modern aestheticideas, or the shaping method of the traditional Chinese patternshould be applied to modern design, giving it new culturalconnotations.This paper attempts to distinguish it from the past conceptual studyof the external manifestation of the Chinese traditional patterns astraditional culture, but through the systematic collection of Chinesetraditional pattern, which having the law of social development asbackground and traditional culture and modern design concept asbreakthrough point, to study the shape of the law, color performanceand the expression of the meaning of the traditional Chinese pattern,and also deeply study the cultural connotations behind. The analysisand summary of some excellent design cases which applies thetraditional pattern into modern design, together with the proceeds ofthe law practice to design activities, have positive effect on thefusion of modern design and traditional culture.
