Since the late 1970s, there has been a revival of interest in therole of vocabulary in L2 learning, and a growing body of empirical studies has been presented concerning the issues. Vocabulary learning has become a very important part in any language learning, and fuzzy theory, one important theory in both applied mathematics and linguistics, has found its important applications in the field of vocabulary learning. The paper intends to put fuzzy theory, namely, fuzzy set theory and some findings in fuzzy linguistics, to use. The fuzzy properties existing the phonetic level, grammatical level, meaning analyses and pragmatic aspect of vocabulary learning are studied in this paper and also a detailed study of hedge is carried out because of its uniqueness and importance. Meanwhile, the fuzzy memorizing strategy is put forward. After a detailed illustration of its theoretical base, an evaluation is carried out to show the effectiveness of this strategy. As the statistics show, the experimental classes that adopt the fuzzy strategy to memorize vocabulary have a better performance in vocabulary memorizing than the control classes.
