WEI Shou (507-572) was a native of Julu in present-day Hepei. He was very famous in the Northern Dynasties. He became an official in his twenties. Finding it impossible to realize his political ambitions, he expressed his frustration in literature, notably in fu. He paid more attention to the choice of words and images and the use of classical allusions and parallelisms than to the content of his works, however, his profound understanding coupled with.his brilliant literary gifts made him the greatest poet of the Northern Dynasties. Now, we collect the works of WEI Shou anew, collate and annotate them detailed to provide a good reading book for the people who are interested in classical Chinese literature.
