Study On Lu-huabo's Contribution To Music

This thesis is on the achievement of late Mr. Lu-huabo,a musician and composer who has almost been forgotten by us.Studies about Lu-huabo till now are only about his monograph"The so-called new music", and few material sources can be foundnowadays. In this thesis, firstly, the present writer carried on anon-site investigation and collected her original material onLu-huabo and re-clarified his life period. Secondly, the presentwriter analyzes the creation of artistic songs, music and piano tuneof Lu-huabo, appraises the works from the angle of hisaccompaniments especially for folk songs and Chinese fiddle tunesof Liu-tianhua, and makes an introduction of Lu's contribution onthe sphere of musical creation. Thirdly, the writer introduces Lu'smusical comments and his view of "the combination of the Orientmusic and the Occident music", and points out the Lu'scontribution to the theory or Chinese music. Fourthly, the writerenumerates Lu's teaching life, his editing and translation ofeducational material, and states Lu's contribution on the sphere ofmusical education of China. Finally, the writer criticizes the unfairreputation and the misunderstandings to Lu due to the historicreason and tries to re-estimate the value of Lu's contribution tocontemporary music history of China.
