A verb-copying sentence (VS) is one of the special sentence patterns of Chinese, whose form is: (S) VOVC. In recent years, the study on the information structure of verb-copying sentences(ISVS) becomes the common issue of the interested scholars, the research leads to theprimary conclusion that ISVS is from background to foreground. But the deficienciesare as follows: (1) rough but not specialized research, (2) research according togeneral principles of information arrangement, but not on the basis of combinationwith the structure features of verb-copying sentences. So, the aim of this thesis is: (1) to study ISVS starting with grammar structure,i.e., to combine form with meaning or function; (2) to study the surface meaning ofthe information structure, along with deep analysis of the information structure. This thesis consists of three aspects: (1) to study ISVS through analysising thereference of objective. The author draws a conclusion that the objectives are mainlycategorized as nonreferential and identifiable types, both of them express oldinformation. (2) to study the ISVS through contrastive analysising the categorizationof V1 and V2. V1 differs from V2 in categorization and transitivity, which reveals thatV2 is the core of information. (3) to study the ISVS through analysising elementsbetween VO and VC. The features of these elements in semantic and pragmatic canalso reveal the ISVS. Especially, the thesis study the ISVS of "(lian)VOdouVC"structure , whose function is controversial. By this analysis, the author wants to reveal the information structure thoroughly, and attempts to give a sample of the general study of information structure. At last, the author gives some advice to continue the research, (1) to continue tocollect the corpus widely and describe them profoundly; (2) to absorb overseasachievements; (3) to combine linguistics research with science research; (4) toassociate the knowledge of ISVS with VS teaching.
