A Study Of Guo Xiuji

Along with the Tang's poems thrive and prosper, selecting and editing poetry anthology in Tang dynasty was in fashion for a period. Various anthologies welled up. Guo xiuji, one of the ten anthologies which edited by Tang literates, came down. It edited in Tang dynasty but gradually being realized after Zeng yanhe's postscript in Song dynasty. Its infection is too gray to be cared by scholars because Zeng yanhe believed that Guo xiuji is not good as He yueyinglingji, another poetry anthology .edited by Yin fan in Tang dynasty. Up to now,Fu xuancong had emended it and cleared it up. He also studied the edition, time and discrepancy of this anthology .But currently the study of the Guo xiuji's content is still a blank, the lack also restricts us to study it deeply.There are three chapters in my thesis. First, I introduced the editor's intention, its exact age and poems. I also introduced the Guo xiuji's edition and found its trails in historical booklists. Second, I proceed from the poems of Guo xiuji and reveal the connection between Guo xiuji and Tang's imperial examination, music and tried to reveal its abundant culture Above is Guo xiuji's basic information. How to treat other scholars' opinions is also important in my thesis. Third, I have found the shortcomings and merits existed through its edition. I don't approve some scholars' views that Guo xiuji should reveal the achievements of Tang's poems, at the same time; they ignored the independent wish of an anthology.Today, the remaining of the ten poetry anthologies is cherishing original data. They became an indivisible organic whole. Every anthology only represents a small part of Tang's poems and some peoples' view. So it is important to regard them as a whole, in fact, they play a very important role through our studies on the regulation, poetry theory and style of Tang's poems. We should give them a second look.
