Research Of The Compound Sentences In Yanzi Spring And Autumn

Yanzi Spring and Autumn, which was to record the important official words of Qi Kingdom's famous prime minister Yanying, was completed in the Warring States Period. As the earliest collection of short stories, the book contains dialogues mostly. It has high value in the research of language due to its vivid language and high level of spoken language.The Warring States Period is a critical period during the history of Chinese language and there were only a few books completed in this period. So it is important to do some in-depth research to the grammar in Yanzi Spring and Autumn, which will enable people to know the grammatical system in this period. But research about the compound sentences in Yanzi Spring and Autumn is hardly seen. Since there is no article or book which gives in-depth research to compound sentences in Yanzi Spring and Autumn in the academic circle, I try to do such kind of research and hope that the research can be of some value.The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is introduction which depicts resumptively the book of the Yanzi Spring and Autumn ,the method used in the research, the edition used in the research and correlative grammatical system.The second chapter is to depict the compound sentences thoroughly. Quantity analysis and qualitative analysis is used in the research. Some statistics are listed as the form of graphs in order to make the research clear. After the thorough research, depiction and analysis, the conclusion of the characteristic of the compound sentences in Yanzi Spring and Autumn is listed at the end of the thesis.The third chapter is to discuss the special grammar phenomena of the compound sentences in Yanzi Spring and Autumn after doing the thorough research into all the compound sentences in the book. Difference will be detected between two compound sentences which are quite alike. Besides, "suoyi(so)" can be used in three kinds of compound sentences but the usage of "suoyi" is quite different. To compare the different usage of the same empty word in one book will show the development in the history of Chinese language.
