The Application Of Harmonic In The Five Piano Music Of Cantonese Tune By Chen Peixun

Master Chen Peixun is one of the most composers in the twenty-first century in China. In his thirty years of composing career, he has composed a large number of works which were divided into piano music and orchestral music, the former was the major part of his early composition. Master Chen's works of piano music was characterized by the application of harmonic technique, mainly reflecting in his five piano music of Cantonese tune. This paper mainly studies the five piano music. It analyzes the unique feature of his harmonic technique deeply and comprehensively. By comparing transversely with the works of other composers in addition to the systems analysis to his works, the character appears to be more vivid and straightforward. The paper is divided into the three parts: The first part: The five piano music. It mainly introduces master Chen's whole life and summarizes the basic content of the five piano music. It emphasizes on analyzing the links and differences between the original music and the transcribed music. The second part: The application of the harmonic technique in his works. This is the most important chapter in the paper. Without sticked into the traditional processing method to Pianyin, he used the verified chord structure and the special harmonic technique to appeal the music more lively and delicately, therefore enhancing the artic effect. This not only reflects his rich composing experiences but also his persistent exploration. The third part: Comparing other composers'works. Through comparing the application of such composers as Huang zi, Ding Shande, Sang tong, Zhu Jianer to the harmonic technique, this chapter concludes their own composing character and the common points on the composing concept, serving as a foil to the breakthrough of his work in the technique and style at that time.
