Study On The Psychological Verbs Relevant To Fear In Dun-huang Bian-wen

In brief, psychological verbs are a group of verbs describing psychological activities, such as "ai (love), hen (hate), pa (fear), nu (anger), xi (like), and yi (doubt)" etc. There are numerous psychological verbs in Dun-huang Bian-wen(敦煌变文) relevant to "ju pa (fear)". A attempted research on this kind of psychological verbs is summarized in this thesis. Firstly, these verbs are collected and classified, and efforts have been made to explain the reason why there are so many psychological verbs relevant to fear in Dun-huang Bian-wen(敦煌变文). As far as the meanings of the verbs are concerned, studies are mainly focused on the words such as "mang( 忙 ), huang( 惶 ), huang( 慌 )","pa(怕)",as well as "you(忧),lü(虑),chou(愁) " etc. The purpose of this study is to investigate the evolution history of the verbs' meaning and try to find out the reason of the evolvement in the light of psychology, while combining English and dialect vocabulary. The thesis consists of three parts: 1. A thorough research on one kind of psychological verbs relevant to fear in Dun-huang Bian-wen(敦煌变文) is summarized in this thesis. Briefly sort out the psychological verbs relevant to fear from different aspects, and try to figure out the reason why this kind of psychological verbs are diversified in Dun-huang Bian-wen(敦煌变文) . 2. Case study on one kind of psychological verbs relevant to fear in Dun-huang Bian-wen(敦煌变文) is expounded. Describe the historical evolution of psychological verbs such as"mang 忙 , ju 遽 , huang 惶 , huang慌, you 忧,lü虑,chou 愁"etc. Analyze the origin of the verb "pa(怕)"(fear) that is frequently used in Dun-huang Bian-wen. 3. Analyze the reason of evolution of psychological verbs such as "mang 忙, jing 惊,you 忧, kong 恐, and pa 怕 " from the psychological point of view, while combining English and dialect vocabulary.
