The present paper is about Lin Fengmian(1900-1991) who was pioneer of reforming Chinese painting in the background of interaction between the Western and the Chinese art, by the method of comparison. The paper proceed from Lin Fengmian formation, revision, and practice of the theory of artistic interaction between the Western and the Chinese, revolved round closely the theory of interaction to discuss Lin Fengmian's arduous exploration. The discussion focusing on one transform and two experimentation of the theory of interaction, explain Lin Fengmian how to realize his transfer of the contemporary painting. The contribution to the development of Chinese painting is that he interacted and had an insight on the essence between Chinese and western culture, and took on the historic heavy responsibility of reforming the form of Chinese painting. The right judgment about Lin fengmian in the history of Chinese painting is attained through analyzing his artistic thinking and practical achievement .
