Liberty: Choice And Others

This thesis analyses philosophically Sartre's main drama works. These analyses are based on his drama works themselves, combining his philosophical thoughts which especially come from 《Being and Nothingness》 . And I discuss its actual meanings in nowadays through contacting pactice.At first, I introduce simply Sartre's main drama works, and thereafter I speak of the ontology argumentation that Sartre does on man. He thinks that man is a being for-itself, and a being of a kind of possibility which is decided by one's free choice and activities exactly. Because in Sartre's opinions, man is free absolutely. Liberty is penalized and is original of one's life. Man can't evade liberty and confront it only. But the liberty embodies its meanings in the situation only. What's more, the liberty and responsibilities are diseparate, man will be responsible for the result of the free choice at the time of choosing. While Sartre speaks of the relation between the liberty and the situation, he devices the latter into five kinds: my position, my past, my environment, my fellowman and my death what can't restrict the liberty, on the contrary, the liberty give them meanings.From the concept of Sartre's liberty, I introduce the latter two parts of the thesis, as it to say, the body of the thesis:1. the problem of choice in the situation. Sartre believes liberty is the freedom of choice. I generalize four kinds of contents of choice from Sartre's drama works: inevitability and absolute, absurdity and contingency, painfulness and helplessness, justice and lofty which are argued by the quotes from the drama works and the person image, moreover, I acquire for theory foundation from Sartre's philosophical works.
