Study On The Development Of Chengdu's Private Middle Schools Education During The Republic Of China

During the Republic of China, the Government carried out the policies of supporting and promoting the development of private schools so that the private middle schools obtained the favorable opportunities to develop themselves. From the late Qing Dynasty to the liberation of Chengdu, the private middle schools evolved from embryo, first development and continued development which gained a booming development. The development of the private middle school benefited from the policies that the government established for them at first. Against the background of the social transformation from tradition to modernization, the government made the private middle school into its administration system through establishing the status, controlling the quality, supporting and standardizing the development, which on the one hand helping the private middle school in finance and spirit, on the other hand standardizing the development of it, so that promoted the development of the private middle school greatly. The private school had some different character compared with the public middle school in their teaching tenets and methods, finance sources, management and the faculty and students. Meanwhile, there was certain limitation in the development of private middle school . In the aspects of the modern social environment, the government's administration and school's operation , there were some unfavorable factor to private middle schoolwhich caused the defect of private middle school: relying on the tuition fee; survival foundation is fail; lacking sincere consciousness; the whole standard for running a school is relatively low; the school had some offical color to a certain extent.This article mainly describes the development course and the contents of the private middle school of Chengdu; what kind of function and influence produced from the government's policy to the private middle schools and the result produced in the development of private middle school during the period of the Republic of china.
