The Republic of China is a complex period in the modern Chinese history,which can be divided into four stages: Beiyang government period,Nanjing national government period,Japanese resistance period and liberation war period.New and old political regime alternating political instability,the current situation inside and outside of the public grievances interwoven,Chinese and Western culture has been unprecedented collision.In this historical environment,the development of Chengdu girls' secondary education in Sichuan has a prominent position and distinctive characteristics.Chengdu girls' high school has been in the domestic ranks of outstanding.With the influence of Western learning and the promotion of educational environment both inside and outside the province,the girls' secondary education in Chengdu gradually developed.From the late Qing dynasty to the early republic of China,Chengdu girls' middle school education experienced three stages of germination,preliminary development and new development,has been a vigorous vitality.In general,the development of girls' education during this period was relatively rapid,but it was not as optimistic as expected,and there was still a considerable gap between the real education of equality between men and women.In particular,during the period of the Republic of China,the disadvantages of the development of girls' education in Chengdu girls' middle school include the restriction of religion and etiquette law,insufficient sources of financial support,narrow employment of women,etc..The combination of these factors has a negative impact on the development of Chengdu girls' high school.Among these constraints,the discipline of discipline is particularly restrictive.But it was a great progress under the historical conditions at that time.It is also a topic worth studying that we take a dialectical view of Chengdu girls' middle school education in the Republic period.This article mainly combs the development course of Chengdu girls' middle school education in the period of Republic of China,and emphasizes the content of Chengdu girls' middle school education,from the educational purpose and curriculum.Take the example of the private Chinese and English girls' middle school,comparing the same period,the private girls' middle school and the public girls' middle school in the educational purpose,administration and education funds.It is concluded that the main characteristic of girls' secondary education is that the private secondary school is not balanced and has a certain color of officialdom.But it also promoted the girls' liberation movement,inspired girl hood to join the democratic revolution,and trained a group of female talents.However,there are still some problems,such as insufficient funds,difficult to maintain schools,relatively low level of running schools,failed to break away from patriarchal etiquette,school education can not shoulder the purpose of talent training.After investigating the education of Chengdu girls' middle school,we can see the epitome of Chinese girls' secondary education.In the enlightenment stage of girls' education,some ambitious people carry on the arduous exploration work,and constantly try to make a breakthrough.So far,this kind of spirit of exploration and the state of effort still guide the progress of female education in China.After the founding of the People's Republic,women's education gradually merged with men's education,and this is due to some extent to the early exploration.Therefore,a review of the female education in this period will be very useful to provide historical enlightenment and thinking to the contemporary educators.
