As the Yu Shan literary salon' s host and sponsor, the plutocrat Gu Ying was well praised by the posterities. But in some reason, the scholars of the academic lines did not attach much importance to him. They or regarded him as a poet delegate of the late Yuan, introduced superficially or mentioned accidentally when they researched others .So up to now, we hardly saw a paper that aimed to research him, much less a monograph. Besides, the concerning papers were mostly short, loose and could not survey him wholly and fairly. The propel reason was the researchers tended to abide the guides blindlessly and mechanistically, and they did not connect it with the true background of that day. So , in order to make a certain breakthrough on the achievement of the predecessors , I try to research him in micro way with novels and anthologies. The thesis had three chapters: the first one was about the lifetime of Gu Ying, which was divided into two periods, marking by 1348 according to the get-together named by "the great of all" . During the first period, Gu Ying bent himself to charge his family. At this time, Gu Ying' s ability of sociality and financing exerted widely. And with his endeavor, his family became wealthier and he was known by the persons everywhere. During the second one, Gu Ying devoted himself to Yu Shan literary salon. But soon , the hometown of Gu Ying turned into turbulence and appeared separatist regimes. Facing the indecisive situation, Gu Ying took shelter in every quarters, even once becoming Buddhist monk at home . However, when Zhu Yuan-zhang , a deep hatred for the rich, united the country , Gu Ying couldn' t escape from the fate of punishment. The second chapter was about Yu Shan literary salon. Gu Ying took advantages of the reputation of Yang Wei-zhen and Zhen Yuan-you etc to enhance his salon' s status . With their help ,Yu Shan literary salon' s reputation increased quickly and the get-togethers became more frequently. And many famous people all over the country were attracted. The bumpy and legendry life of Gu Ying reflects the government' s policies act much to the cultural' s ebb and flow during the late Yuan and early Ming, and exposes that it was the Zhu Yuan-zhang' s "high tension policy" that was a main factor leading to the culture' s fade of the north Zhe Xi .The second chapter kept eyes on Gu Ying' s friendship with official Yang Wei-zhen, Professor Zheng Yuan-you and the senectitude' s cater-cousin Xie Ying-fang. Scanning their friendship bearing on Yu Shan literary salon, it shows that local rich gentlemen farmers and the reputate personages contribute much to the Zhe Xi culture from city to top folk in late Yuan.
