Western painting was introduced into China about a century ago. Many excellent painters have been produced since the establishment of vocational art schools, These schools were run according to western educational model of art by the first generation of China's oil-painters such as Xu Beihong ,Yan Wenliang, Liu Haisu, and so on. After the foundation of the PRC, a whole set of educational system was introduced from the U. S. S. R .The introduction made oil-painting equal to traditional Chinese painting within a short time in the sense of importance. Since the eighties of the 20th century owing to the breakthrough in ideology, oil-painting in China has been strongly impacted schools and thoughts. The impact led to a great improvement of China's oil-painting. The various concurrence in art styles greatly broadened people's field of vision and hence sped up the reform in oil-painting education in China's universities and colleges .It is under such a temporal circumstance that the diversification of oil-painting education is put forward. This thesis consists of the following aspects: ·From the perspective of the historical process of oil-painting education and teaching in China's universities and colleges, the thesis argues that the implementation of diversification of oil-painting education meets the need of the fime. ·From the superficial aspects of various concurrence and broom-free development of different forms and styles, this thesis analyses some problems left in current China's oil-painting education. ·By probing into the application of diversification to the oil-painting education, this thesis points out the solutions to the above-mentioned problems, and demonstrates the significance of diversification in China's oil-painting education.
