One of the main traits of Chinese is that there are a number of synonymy and near synonymy, so it is very important for foreign students to learn them when they study Chinese. But, there are so many different ideas about what exactly synonymy and near synonymy are. And there is lack of a discriminating method of comparatively systematic and easy for operating. That is a disadvantage of carrying out the teaching of Chinese to foreigners. To absolve the question, this paper, having based on the traits of TCF and the results that have been raised, studied the synonymy and near synonymy and the discriminating method of them, and raised our own point of view. This paper has 6 parts, mainly including an investigation of learning of synonymy and near synonymy of foreigners, and the analysis of existed results of synonymy and near synonymy study, and our own point of view, which based on the existed results and the study about comprehension of language and preserving of language of psycholinguistics. In this paper there are three kinds of words need to be discriminated: the words whose meanings are similar to each other or the words that have the same meaning; the words that have similar forms or pronunciations; and the words that have many meanings and these meanings may result in confusion between tow words. The last tow kinds of words are easy to discriminate just only by discriminating their meaning. And the rest kind is the question about synonymy and near synonymy. In this paper we distinguished the synonymy from the near synonymy by whether the words mean the same conceptand take the distinction of concrete words and contrast words as a premise. And then we discriminate the words according to their parts of speech.
