Jing Dezhen had a great reputation for the porcelain in the world. In Qianlong Year of Qing Dynasty, the development of the porcelain industry had reached its top. But, since the late Qing Dynasty, because foreign nations invaded China, war broke out frequently and the gateway of China was forced to open. In a large quantity of foreign commodities poured into Chinese market, which led to a sharp fall on the sales volume of the China-made goods. Consequently, a lot of handicraftsmen went bankrupt in succession. At that time, the porcelain industry of Jing Dezhen had received a heavy blow and suffered a disastrous decline. In view of this, Du Zhongyuan, who was a famous patriotic reformer of industry, carried out a reform in Jing Dezhen's porcelain industry during the ten years of the Republic of China in Jiangxi. In order to probe into the real reason for the unexpected drop of Jing Dezhen's porcelain industry in modern times, which was in fashion in Ming and Qing Dynasty, I chose Du Zhongyuan's reforms as breakthrough point. In this article, I descried Du Zhongyuan's reform measures and the process of execution in great detail, and deeply analyzed the modernized impact and response that traditional economy of Jing Dezhen's porcelain industry had faced. Thus, I drew the conclusion that paradox between the development logic of the traditional handcrafting town and modernized industry is the essential reason for the decline on the economy of Jing Dezhen's porcelain industry.
