| The research of Chinese Abbreviated Sentences (C.A.S) has a long history with over eighty years. However, the deepness and the extent of C.A.S are limited in comparison with other sections in Chinese's research. This thesis deals with the rules on ellipsis of conjunctional marks in C.A.S mostly via plenty of depiction on C.A.S'corpora. Firstly, define C.A.S on the base of previous researchers'opinions. Different components, including conjunctional marks, are omitted in various elliptical forms of C.A.S. Secondly, different appearance's probabilities of different conjunctional marks in C.A.S are found by statistics on corpora, and the highly appeared conjunctional marks are JIU, YE, HAI, YOU, DOU, CAI, and so on. Accordingly, if a conjunctional mark should be filled in the C.A.S that has no conjunctional marks, these highly appeared conjunctional marks are usually employed. Finally, the rules for ellipsis of conjunctional marks in C.A.S are concluded by studying whether these conjunctional marks can be omitted in sentences. Whether the conjunctional marks can be omitted in C.A.S is determined by factors from two aspects: form and meaning. In order to keep the symmetry of C.A.S'figure, the conjunctional marks can be omitted from some sentences while can't be omitted from others. In addition, the position of semantic barycenter in C.A.S, smoothness or contradiction in the meanings of conjunction, different conjunctional meanings in different conjunctional marks are factors that affect the ellipsis of conjunctional marks in C.A.S. Compared with the formal reasons, the semantic reasons are more efficient. The theory of distance iconicity and mark iconicity can also explain the phenomena of ellipsis of conjunctional marks in C.A.S at semantic layer efficiently. To search the rules on ellipsis of components in C.A.S can help us to understand the paratactic tradition better in Chinese grammar, and can lead us to know more clearly about cognitive rules of human beings.
