Research On Application Of Public Art To Urban Traffic Environment In Beijing

As an important part of Beijing urban construction, traffic environment conveysnot only economic conception, but also cultural one. The culture and art delivered bytraffic environment is the exterior exemption of the city. This dissertation is devotedto incorporation "Public Art", the art and human factor, into Beijing urban trafficenvironment in order to build high quality urban public traffic environment.The methodology here is the combination of quantity and quality analysis. Thisdissertation provides research on Beijing urban traffic environment and status quo ofpublic art and planning politics concerned. Furthermore, it compares public art ofBeijing urban traffic environment with that of foreign one. With Chang'an Street,Wangfujing Pedestrian Street, New East Road, loop line subway and urban subway13 as examples, this dissertation focuses on existent problems and the viewpoints onurban traffic environment and its public art, in the way of questionnaires, interviewsand spot research mainly used in the quantity analysis. With regard to quality analysis,the research on planning sectors is conducted aimed at analyzing operationmechanism of public art and status quo of polices and statutes. What is more, thisdissertation compares Beijing urban traffic public art with foreign one. Through theinduction and analysis of research materials, this dissertation offers data andviewpoints and contributes a lot to the application of public art to traffic environment.Concerning the problems, this dissertation provides principles and feasible suggestionon the application of public art to Beijing urban traffic environment in the future: thediversification principle;participation of the principle of unified planning withpriority on system.Proceeding from current situations, this dissertation focuses on problems andtrends of public art in Beijing urban traffic environment and provides relevantprinciples and suggestion. In this way, this dissertation is tended to be helpful to theapplication of public art to Beijing urban traffic environment and offer insight intourban human construction.
