Discussion On The Rise Of Universities In Europe During The 11-15～(th) Century

ll-15th centuries is the period that society in Europe Conceived a change and brought up. During this time, European universities rose in the large scope here. This is thought as the most important innovation of institution and idea in the area of education in the Middle Ages. This kind of "innovation" include: as a kind of education form,Medieval universities not only made the traditional education more perfect and enriched, but also infused into a kind of completely new education idea for the traditional education.The rise of ll-15th centuries universities filled up the blank between the classic cultural development and Renaissance and constituted the important starting-point of the development of European culture in the view of history. Their basic function ,. system feature and ideal universities in Europe laid foundation for the formation of modern universities, which are also the most cherish wealth of spirit and cultural to leave to us.Therefore, discussing this issue not only makes us know clearly the history blackground , the reasons and the forming courses, but also the " university ideal" " university system" etc., and manage the modern universities well during the course of inheriting and developing. In a sense, without a deep and comprehensive knowledge about Medieval universities, it is difficult to understand the essence of modern universities deeply and comprehensively.The word "rise" means that "becoming and being more powerful or important", that is to say :firstly, the "emerging" course of one thing to getting some characteristics;secondly, the "powerful" course of it from "emerging" to being developing, being enlarging . Therefore, the author thinks that only putting "the Medieval universities" into a large surroundings, can discuss this thesis more clearly, more comprehensive and more organized.But,11-15thcenturies, is the key ages of European universities emerging and becoming powerful, thus, this thesis mainly focuses on the period of "ll-15th centuries", and discussing the problem of the rise of universities in the particular period . So, in the title, the author didn't use the point of "the Medieval universities", but "ll-15th centuries in Europe" in order to decline the time. But, in the description of the theme using the point of "the Medieval universities" publicly recognized by the academia.The research on the "Medieval universities", has being continued since the early stage of 19th century .While the academic books that discussing the rise of "the Medieval universities" are few, and just scattered in the books on the history of society, education, culture, civilization and religion. According to Mr Binxian zhang:in the recent forty years, we can only find ten papers with the similar theme, which fully proves that the education academia are in deep trouble. While the research of the "rise" of medieval universities deserve our efforts and our serious treatment .Therefore ,the thesis aims at discussing the issue of the rise of the "medieval universities" as the following three aspects:firstly,describing the basic outline of the medieval universities by introducing the implication of medieval universities, the scope and the distribution.secondly, discussing why it emerge in such country and age from the aspects of economy, religion and culture ,which is the main part of this thesis.Thirdly, generalizing the three characteristics of medieval universities as the independence , profession and international.Finally, simply interpreting the conclusion.
