A Study On The Western Region's Poems In The Tang Dynasty

This thesis primarily concerns the Western Region's poems in the Tang Dynasty. It probes into the prosperious multiple-culture background, the national customs of the Western Region's poems in the Tang Dynasty, musical and dancing culture in the Western Region, rich and colourful images and aesthetical value of poems through the methods of folklore, anthropology, science of regional culture, etc. The thesis explores the rich and generous cultural contents, discusses the unique aesthetical style and features of the Western Region's poems in the Tang Dynasty, and lays stress on its unique regional characteristics, unequivocal national characteristics, profound cultural characteristics. At the same time, it tries to unveil the relations between the Western Region's poems and spirits of the people in the Tang Dynasty, and it helps people to comprehend the charms of the Tang Poetry. Concretely, the thesis launches demonstration from four respects mainly:First, it probes into the prosperious cultural background of the Western Region's poems in the Tang Dynasty. This part defines the concept of "The Western Region's Poems" initially. On this basis, it proceeds with three elements---era, enviroment and nationality to describe multiple-culture background of the Western Region's poems in the Tang Dynasty deeply.Second, it explains the folk culture contents of the Western Region's poems in the Tang Dynasty from two respects---"distinctive living folklore of the Western Region" and "surprising festival amusement folklore of the Western Region", thereby showing strong exotic flavour, rich flavour of a specific nationality and cultural colouring of the Western Region's poems in the Tang Dynasty.Third, it illustrates the unique glamour of the Western Region's musical and dancing poems in the Tang Dynasty. This part studies the unique origin, the distinctive national style and outstanding expression of the Western Region's music and dance described in the Western Region's poems in the Tang Dynasty. At the same time, it tries to probe into the relations between the Western Region's music and dance and aesthetical delights of the people in the Tang Dynasty, robust and free qualities of the Tang Poetry.Fourth, it analyzes images of the Western Region's poems in the Tang Dynasty. This part chooses three images—Utpala, Hu horse and Hu Ji, which best embody the regional characteristics and cultural contents of the Western Region. And it reflects the rich and varied spirits of the people in the Tang Dynasty through these images.
