The Study On The Christian Missionary Schools In The Northeast Of Modern China

After the Opium War, the Western missionaries go into China with the imperialisticgunboats and cheap commodities. Despite they opened the "Gospel" corridors with theprotection of privileges by treaties, the initial sermon activities have not been all right.Therefore, in order to open the missionary situation, the means must be adapted to China'snational conditions from the church to the classroom, the missionaries regarded this as theshortcut of Save-people "soul" and the spread of Jesus "Gospel". Thus, the missionaries whoare holding the "Bible" have established missionary schools, over a rather long period of timethey served as a leading force in the Northeast of China and Western cultural exchange.Based on the history records of the Northeast of China and the history cultural heritagedatum, this paper investigates the activities of the missionaries established the missionaryschools in the Northeast of modern China and carries on the discussion from the threefollowing aspects: First, the history background of the Christianity established missionary schools in theNortheast of China. The reason why Christianity established missionary schools is analyzedfrom the Christianity got into the Northeast and preached in initial stage. To alleviate to thedifficulties of preaching, the missionaries established missionary schools as to spread theterrace of Jesus "Gospel", for raising the position of Christianity and achieving the basic goalthat attracting peoples in the Northeast to convert to Christianity. Second, the establishment and development of the Christian missionary schools in theNortheast. From the end of 19 centuries to the middle period of 20 centuries, the Christianitystarted to build up missionary schools from kindergarten, primary school, high school,university to female in the Northeast gradually. Eventually a very complete Christianity'seducational system which contained different layers and categories is established, so thepurpose of "assist by learn to teach" is achieved. Third, the appraisal of the history of the Christian missionary schools in the Northeast ofChina. In process of the establishment and development of the Christian missionary schools inthe Northeast of modern China, the Christian missionary schools have "conquer China"mission, meanwhile they established a new educational system in the Northeast of modernChina objectively and pushed up the educational progress of modernization.
