Yang Wanli had written 4 232 poems throughout his life, of which more than 500 poems sang gardens , Yang Wanli composed lots of poems on the hills and waters in the garden with his sharp insight and comprehension as he visited them, which reflected his keenly aesthetic consciousness of gardens;which showed his appetite for the hills and waters in the garden, and displayed his aesthetic appreciation of the harmony between movement and calmness, the combination of human and garden, the Chan ambit of vividness and quickness in the garden. In which he pursued the blend between garden ideal and poem ideal, the mingling between natural scenery and individual quality, the intercourse between refined and popular tastes,he showed almost natural and unpolished human consciousness, and displayed outsdanding artistic skills by pruning landscapes inside and outside the gardens. At the same time,we can kown keenly about yangwanli's advocation of independent personality and self-spirit,we can provide foundation from his heart for the poem innovation of "chengzhai style",we can comprehend his complicated and seemly self-contradictory views on poems.
